We suggest you begin with the recitation of the mantra, 'May I live gratefully and simply today.' Sisters, associates, co-workers, and partners in ministry are encouraged to use the examen at least twice a month personally at a time of your choosing, and to also use it at least once a month communally. This second version provides all four themes to date on one page, and can be printed and folded into a small booklet to tuck into a prayer book or keep at hand. Use this one-page version to save to your computer or print - it contains the examen theme explanation with reflection questions. The theme for July through September is Degrading Human Culture.
